The lecturer discusses the French Revolution, the storming of the Bastille Prison in 1798 in Paris, and the essential events of the revolution which took place under the slogans of freedom, brotherhood and equality. At the same time, the rise of a new artistic movement in French cultural life was part of the ideas and people of the revolution. Focusing on the French painter Jean Louis David and his work, the development of his style and the subject matter of his paintings, the lecturer interprets the history, events and life in Parisian society during the French Revolution.
