The Intifada: Causes and Factors of Continuity

This study focuses on the first year and a half of the Intifada and examines
the continuation of the uprising against the Israeli occupation. In disproving
the Israeli claims that an external power was behind the Intifada, Abu-Amr
discusses the root and immediate causes and catalysts for the outbreak of
the uprising. He considers the organization of Palestinian society, the Unified
National Leadership, the PLO, national figures and institutions, the discovery
of potential and mass creativity, the media and press, and finally reviews
Israeli measures against the Intifada.
