This Special Bulletin on Jerusalem: Between Historical Legacy and Political
Geography presents a general overview of the history of Jerusalem starting
from the 7th Century and moving on to the transformation of the city
following the Israeli Occupation in 1967 and the subsequent events. The text
looks at aspects like the UN Partition Plan, Israel’s settlement policies, and
documents, letters and treaties related to city’s fate. The Bulletin is illustrated
with 18 maps, a graph, a table and around 60 pictures, including photos of
Jerusalem’s mayors from the early 20th Century until 1967. A list of further
research sources is listed at the end.
