Haj Mustafa Abboushi

A member of one of the main landowning families of Jenin, Abboushi lost an arm fighting in the Crimean War in Turkish service. This is a painting, done in Jenin in 1917, is by a German, who was among the substantial number of Germans in Palestine during W.W.I. assisting the Turkish effort.

Hafiz Pasha Abdul Hadi

Abdul Hadi, of Jenin, was a member of an important family of landowners in Nablus, Arraba and Jenin. He was a tax collector in Turkish times, and his brother, Salim Ahmad Abdul Hadi, a member of the Decentralization Party which demanded autonomy for the Arab provinces of the Empire, was executed in 1916.
