SUMMARY

Dr. Mahdi Abdul Hadi attended this conference in the wake of several suicide bombing attacks against Israelis by Islamist activists. This topic led to a heated debate and much attention centered around the recent events. The conference was broken up into three sessions: The Peace Process - Visions and Realities, The Transformation of States and Societies in the Region, and The Role of Europe and European Countries in the Middle East. Speakers included Palestinian, Israeli, and European governmental officials, representatives of international organizations, and academics.
