- 17th - 19th January 1994.
International Symposium on Transmediterranean
Interdependence and partnership. "Auletta dei
Grupppi Parliamentari" at the Italian Parliament,
Rome. North-South Centre, European Centre for Global
Interdependence and Solidarity, Council of Europe.
The main aim of this conference was to focus on
economic, social, cultural and even psychological
patterns of the interdependent relationship of the
transmediterranean region. Among the things addressed
were intercultural understanding and religious tolerance,
migration and exchange and the new forms of co-operation,
development and partnership.

This was the first in a series of ongoing roundtable
meetings between Israelis and Palestinians, the focus of
which was to "brainstorm" on the various
elements of collective identities in the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
